According to data, South Korea imported 618 thousand tons of scrap in February, down by 13.9% year on year, while, it was up by 40.2% month on month.
Japan was the major exporter to South Korea, which exported 363 thousand tons of scrap in February, accounting for 58.7% of the total.
Meanwhile, South Korea imported 1.06 million tons of scrap in the first two months of 2011, dropped by 22.2% year on year.
Among them, 581 thousand tons were from Japan, down by 33.1%; 207 thousand tons were from the US, decreased by 38.9%; 89 thousand tons were from Russia, increased by 60.6%.
