The prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 advanced by $3 a ton to $290 a ton (CFR Taiwan port) in the week ended December 05, as per The Steel Index.
ISRI grade imported scrap prices rose slightly on the back of port congestion issues on the US west coast, but Taiwanese mills continue to demonstrate a preference for Japanese scrap.
Meanwhile mills remain jittery with regards to the future demand of long products in Taiwan, and are conscious of the continuing weakness of iron ore prices.
