SteelHome Morning Express (14 June 2019)

SteelHome (China) Steel Price Index (SHCNSI) was 96.55 points (4,176 yuan) on 13 June 2019, down 0.26 point (11 yuan) from the previous trading day. Steel price in key markets saw both stability and decline. Details are as below:

Construction steel: 20mm HRB400 rebar averaged at 4007 yuan per ton, down 15 yuan/t from previous trading day. Among them, price dropped by 10-50 yuan/t except stability in Nanjing, Hefei, Nanning, Wuhan, Taiyuan, Baotou, Kunming, Guiyang and Lanzhou markets.

Medium plate: 20mm Q235B medium plat price averaged at 4005 yuan per ton in 28 domestic markets, down 5 yuan/t from previous trading day. Price decreased by 10-30 yuan/t in Shanghai, Nanjing, Jinan, Hefei, Lecong, Wuhan, Tianjin and Taiyuan markets against stability in the rest.

HRC: Price saw both hike and drop. 5.75mm Q235B HRC average price was just decreased by 7yuan to 3883 yuan per ton in 28 domestic markets. Among the whole markets, price decreased by 20-40 yuan/t in part of East China markets and 10-30 yuan/t in Wuhan, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Shenyang and Changchun markets. The rest was stable.

CRC: average price of 1.0mm SPCC CRC was 4247 yuan per ton in 28 domestic markets, down 4 yuan/t from previous trading day. Price was stable except 10-60 yuan drop in Wuxi, Jinan, Nanning, Tianjin, Xi’an and Lanzhou markets.

On 13 June, Tangshan common billet price was stable at 3500 yuan per ton, (cash, tax included, ex-works). Spot products in Tangshan billet market were priced at 3580 yuan per with flat transaction. Billet inventory amounted at 263,900 tons in 16 stocks, up 40,900 tons from last survey.

On 13 June, iron ore market hiked. SteelHome data showed that China Domestic Iron Ore Price Index (SHCNDOI) 65% was 846 yuan per ton, unchanged and SteelHome Imported Iron Ore Price Index (SHCNIOI) 62% was 106.71 dollars per ton, up 2.8 dollars/t from previous day.

Spot ore transacting price hiked by 15 yuan/t at China ports, For instance, PB fines trading price was 802 yuan per ton at Rizhao port and PB fines at Caofeidian port were traded at 805 yuan per ton with flat transactions.

Seaborne market headed up. COREX platform trading price was 114.5 dollars/t for 0.17 million tons 62%BRBF Fines with laycan during 13-22 July 2019.
