In order to improve purity of molten steel and reducing the effect of drainage via oxygen burning on the quality of molten steel, Fangda Special Steel has aroused technicians to carry out a series of measure for tackling the problem.
Through joint effort, free-opening rate of ladle is significantly improved. As of July, free-opening rate of VD ladle increased by 2% from last year.
Free-opening of ladle nozzle is the key factor influencing molten steel quality. During the steelmaking process, drainage via oxygen burning will be conducted once ladle nozzle can’t open freely, which will cause secondary oxidation pollution to molten steel and make no sense of VD technique for purity improvement.
Fangda Special Steel seeks for the measures through drainage sand additive, residual steel slags in the ladle, the relative position of nozzle seat brick and bottom of ladle etc. to improve free-opening rate of ladle.
