According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported around 233,000 tons of billet in February this year, rising by 71% compared to the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Algeria accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 94,300 tons, compared to zero in February 2022. Russia ranked second with 83,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22%, followed by India’s 27,800 tons.
In the first two months of this year, Turkey’s biller imports amounted to around 560,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 92%. Russia was the biggest supplier with 208,200 tons.
