The annual meeting of the steel ultimate energy efficiency, with the launch of energy efficiency benchmark demonstration project, was held on Jan 30, which was hosted by the Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Working Committee of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).
Jiang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CISA, expressed on the meeting that in the context of dual carbon, to achieve high-quality development, build a Chinese path to modernization industrial system, cope with the harsh domestic and overseas environment and stabilize the economic growth, energy efficiency and carbon reduction are the few focus and breakthrough points that can be selected by the steel industry, relevant ministries and commissions and promoted by the whole industry. Over the past year, CISA organized the steel industry to vigorously research the "two standards and one system", relying on the T/CISA 293 group standard to develop a data reporting system for energy efficiency benchmarking in key steel processes, and restore the real energy consumption data of steel processes. Based on the analysis of four batches of data reported by 58 cultivation enterprises with a current production capacity of 440 million tons, the scientific and rational nature of the standards has been further verified. This reflects the early planning and action in implementing the central spirit, ministerial requirements, and complying with the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the industry, carried out by the industrial association.
Since the launch of the "Three Year Action for Energy Efficiency Benchmarks in the Steel Industry" in 2022, a large number of member enterprises have actively responded, and the energy efficiency level has been further improved.
