On the morning of February 1st, the signing ceremony for the demonstration series project of near-zero carbon emission electric furnaces by CITIC Pacific Special Steel Jingjiang Special Steel was held in Jingjiang. Qian Gang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group, and Zhang Changping, Secretary of the Jingjiang Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Economic and Technological Development Zone, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Zhang Changping emphasized that the "Near-Zero Carbon Emission Electric Furnace Demonstration Series Project" being initiated and constructed is CITIC Pacific Special Steel's proactive response to the national "dual carbon" strategy. Leveraging industry advantages, technological strengths, and collaborative advantages, the project is dedicated to establishing a significant strategic investment that sets an example for low-carbon innovation in the steel industry. It aims to build the most competitive global special steel enterprise group, showcasing the foresight and vision of CITIC Pacific Special Steel while adding strong momentum to the construction of a billion-level metal materials sector in our city.

In his speech, Qian Gang stated that the Near-Zero Carbon Emission Electric Furnace Demonstration Series Project is a key initiative undertaken by CITIC Pacific Special Steel to actively respond to the national requirements for the development of the "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality" strategy. This project is not only a national low-carbon metallurgical technology research pilot project but also the first national-level demonstration project for electric furnace short-process steelmaking. Upon completion and production, the project will serve as a model for the low-carbon development of the national special steel industry, promoting the overall development of the special steel industry with an additional annual sales revenue of 3 billion RMB and over 100 million RMB in added tax revenue, thereby enhancing the economic benefits of the enterprise.

The group will position Jingjiang Special Steel as the industry benchmark for "domestic medium-caliber special seamless steel pipe," the "worldwide warehousing center for pipes," and the "near-zero carbon emission electric furnace steelmaking demonstration factory." These three major objectives will guide the future development, transforming it into a new platform that radiates throughout Southeast China, faces the whole country, and integrates into the international arena, contributing to Jingjiang's creation of a new green and low-carbon development business card.

As a near-zero carbon emission demonstration project in the high-end metal materials sector, the estimated initial investment for this project is 3 billion RMB. It will fully leverage the synergies of talent, technology, research and development, and operations within CITIC Pacific Special Steel, optimizing and integrating resources along the steelmaking industry chain. The project will involve the construction of near-zero carbon emission electric furnace steelmaking, green energy sources (wind and solar power), and bio-gas production, ultimately achieving a comprehensive demonstration of near-zero carbon emission electric furnace steelmaking.
