According to statistics from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US exported around 23,000 tons of hot-rolled steel bars in December last year, decreasing by 17% compared to the previous month and by 22% from the same month a year earlier.
Among them, the exports to Mexico accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 13,200 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 20% and a year-on-year drop of 27.7%. Canada ranked second with roughly 8,700 tons, and the exports to other countries were not many.
During the period, the export value totaled roughly US$40 million, down by 14.4% month on month and by 16.2% year on year.
