Review of Steel Scrap Market
Scrap:
This
Monday to Tuesday this week (March 4-5), the domestic scrap prices declined in
some markets. On March 5, SteelHome's price index of HMS was 3035 yuan/ton, down
by 17 yuan/ton compared to March 1. The purchase price of 6-10mm HMS of
Jiangsu's leading steel mills in East China remained stable at 3,000 yuan/ton,
and the scrap intakes of the leading steel mills increased. The scrap prices in
Shandong region decreased in a few markets, the scrap prices in the central and
southwestern regions were mainly stable, the scrap prices in the northeast
region decreased in a few markets.

Review of Alloy Market
Ferrosilicon:
From
Monday to Tuesday this week, the domestic ferrosilicon prices were mainly
stable. On March 5, SteelHome's price index of ferrosilicon was 6437 yuan/ton,
being flat compared to March 1. HBIS Group has not yet determined the purchase
price of ferrosilicon for March, and the market is expected to be around 6750
yuan/ton. The price of small semi coke was 930-970 yuan/ton, maintaining
stability.
Silicon-manganese:
This
Monday to Tuesday, the domestic prices of silicon-manganese declined in some
markets. On March 5, SteelHome’s price index of silicon-manganese was 6233 yuan/ton,
down by 27 yuan/ton. HBIS Group has not yet determined the purchase price of
silicon-manganese for March. Zhongnan Group, Xianggang, Changjiang Steel, and
Changshu Longteng Special Steel have announced a new round of procurement. The
spot prices of manganese ore at the ports were mainly stable.
Vanadium:
From Monday to Tuesday this week, the price of vanadium based alloys up by
1000-2000 yuan/ton. Some steel mills have raised the bidding price of vanadium
nitrogen alloys to around 133,000 yuan/ton. The price of 98 vanadium pentoxide
increased by 1,000 yua/ton.
Molybdenum:The
price of 60 molybdenum iron increased by 3,000 yuan/ton from Monday to Tuesday
this week. The latest bidding price of Taiyuan Steel is 222,000 yuan/ton, an
increase of 4,000 yuan/ton compared to last Friday. The prices of 45-47%
molybdenum concentrate increased by 40 yuan/ton.
