The Russian Stainless Steel Association (Spetsstal) stated that in 2023, Russian consumption of the main stainless steel products reached about 662,000 tons, which increased by 27% compared to the previous year and rose by 12% compared to 2021. Among them, imported products accounted for 73% of total Russian consumption. Besides, approximately 88% of the imports were from China and India.
Spetsstal indicated that most materials for welded pipes and long products came from domestic sources in 2023, but Russian stainless steel products were mostly made from imported semi-finished products
