According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, in January, the US’ imports of wire rods amounted to about 80,000 tons, increasing by 15.4% from the previous month and growing by 14.8% compared to the corresponding period a year ago. Meanwhile, the import value was about US$70.4 million, increasing by around 14% month on month but decreasing by 5.4% year on year.
Among them, Canada was the main import source, with about 32,000 tons, slightly increasing by 4.1% month on month and increasing by 20.2% year on year. Besides, the US imported from Poland, Brazil, Japan and Malaysia with about 15,000 tons, 11,000 tons, 8,000 tons and 7,000 tons, respectively.
