According to preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce, in February, the US’ hot-rolled coils imports were about 135,000 tons, decreasing by 26% month on month but hiking by 27.8% from the same month a year ago. Meanwhile, the import value was about US$121 million, a month-on-month decrease of 24.2% but a year-on-year increase of 36.3%.
Among them, imports from Canada accounted for the most proportion, falling by 45.9% from the previous month and dropping by 32.2% year on year. Other import sources included South Korea (about 23,000 tons), Japan (about 22,000 tons), Turkey (about 12,000 tons), and Mexico (about 11,000 tons), respectively.
