According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February, Turkey’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports declined by 26.8% year on year and dropped by 39.4% month on month to about 252,000 tons. Meanwhile, the import value was about US$159 million, falling by 39.6% month on month and by 25.9% year on year.
In the first two months, the HRC imports were nearly 668,000 tons, slightly increasing by 0.6% compared to the same period a year ago. During the same period, the import value grew by 1.9% year on year to US$415 million. Among them, China was the main import source, with about 322,000 tons. Other import sources included Egypt (about 154,000 tons) and Japan (81,000 tons).
