Data from Canacero, Mexico's steel industry association, showed that in February, the apparent consumption of rebar grew by 2.4% year on year to about 341,000 tons. On the contrary, Mexico's rebar exports plunged by 55% year on year to about 18,000 tons.
In the first two months, the apparent consumption of rebar slightly decreased by 0.4% year on year to 685,000 tons. Meanwhile, the output fell by 9.9% year on year to 693,000 tons. The exports declined by 57% from the corresponding period a year ago to 37,000 tons.
