Nyrstar NV provided an update to its press release issued on 10 June 2019, whereby it was communicated that the Company had to declare force majeure under a number of its agreements due to an unplanned stoppage of production at the Port Pirie smelter. The Company had previously advised that it anticipated that that the Blast Furnace and TSL Furnace would restart at approximately the same time at the end of June 2019. The Company provided a further update on the progress for the restart.
The Company wished to advise that the force majeure will continue into July 2019. It currently expected both the TSL Furnace and the Blast Furnace to restart in the second week of July 2019.
As previously stated, the extended unplanned shutdown would have a material negative impact on production at Port Pirie and Underlying EBITDA. Nyrstar is continuing to quantify the impact and will provide further information regarding the resolution of the production outage in due course and by no later than the H1 2019 results release.
