Aisha Steel Mills Limited (ASML), a Pakistan-based steel mill, said that the automobile sales of Pakistan and construction activities had rebounded and the demand for cold-rolled coil and hot-dip galvanized steel coil is good.
The company had submitted an application to the National Tariff Commission for a sunset review investigation of the 13.17-19.04% anti-dumping (AD) duties imposed on cold-rolled coils imported from China and Ukraine. These tariffs were implemented in 2016 and will expire in January 2021. ASML expected the tariff will be extended for another 5 years.
After COVID-19 cases fell in Pakistan, domestic steel demand rebounded sharply. The company added that the prospects are promising and they were expected to achieve production and sales targets.
