Thyssenkrupp Steel, a German steel producer, has started a large-scale modernization at several important production facilities in Duisburg, with a total investment of more than EUR 800 million.
The new construction will include the replacement of a 20-year-old casting-rolling line with a continuous casting line and a hot strip mill. The new facilities can produce thinner and stronger steel for the automotive industry.
The modernization work was scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2026.
According to Thyssenkrupp Steel, the investment was to enhance the company’s position in competition in the European market and ensure its leadership in technology and quality.
