According to the report from Crisil, an Indian rating agency, in the fiscal year of 2024, India’s steel imports were expected to remain at around 6 million tons. The high steel imports were mainly caused by the domestic infrastructure development, primarily dominated by the government.
As of November of this fiscal, India imported 4.26 million tons of finished steel, increasing by 13.4% year on year. During the same period, the exports decreased by 6.2% year on year to 4.03 million tons.
