According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2023, Chinese industrial enterprises above designated size produced 4.66 billion tons of raw coal, up 2.9% year on year. Meanwhile, India and Indonesia, the world’s second largest coal producer and the third, both hit a record high. In 2023, coal output in India and Indonesia reached 1.011 billion and 0.7752 billion tons individually.
However, that in other producers dropped. Among them, coal output in USA reached 582 million short tons, down 2.1% yoy; that in Russia reached about 430 million tons, down 1% yoy; that in South Africa reached 232 million tons, down 3% yoy; that in Kazakhstan reached 116 million tons, down 1.2% yoy; that in Germany reached 102 million tons, down 21.8% yoy; that in Poland reached 88.624 million tons, down 17.7% yoy. Additionally, International Energy Agency expects that in 2023, Australia yielded 439 million tons of coal, with a slight drop on a yearly basis.
In 2023, Mongolian coal output achieved 81.192 million tons, soaring by 118% yoy.
