In the first three quarters of the 2023 fiscal year, Japan’s Nippon Steel’s crude steel production slightly increased by 0.7% year on year to 30.45 million tons. The steel products shipments went up by 1.9% from the same period a year ago to 24.12 million tons.
During the same period, compared to the first three quarters of the 2022 fiscal year, Nippon Steel’s sales revenue hiked by 11.4% to JPY 6.64 trillion. The EBITDA decreased by 5.1% to JPY 960.8 billion. Affected by the increased prices of iron ore and coking coal, the operating income went down from JPY 761.8 billion to 618.7 billion.
