BlueScope, the Australian steelmaker, has been granted a subsidy of
approximately A$136.8 million for the refurbishment of Blast Furnace
No.6 at the Port Kembla plant, as well as enhancements to the plant's
environmental systems.
Tania Archibald, CEO of Australian Steel Products, expressed gratitude
for the subsidy, emphasizing its crucial role in supporting the
renovation and ensuring ongoing iron and steel production. She
highlighted that the Port Kembla plant is the sole domestic producer of
flat steel products in Australia, providing high-quality steel essential
for key national sectors, including construction, energy,
infrastructure, and defense. |
