According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 194,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets and strips in January, growing by 11% compared to the previous month and by 4% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 84,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 36.8% and a year-on-year increase of 0.1%. Other major import sources included Mexico (around 25,000 tons), Vietnam (around 22,000 tons), and Brazil (around 16,000 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$231 million, up by 14% month on month and down by 1% year on year.
