According to data from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), in February, Brazil’s crude steel production reached about 2.78 million tons, increasing by 13.1% from the same month a year ago.
Meanwhile, compared February 2024 to the same month in 2023, the rolled steel production went up by 3.8% to 1.83 million tons. The production of flat products increased by 4.5% to 1.04 million tons. The output of long products increased by 2.9% to about 788,000 tons. The domestic steel sales increased by 7.3% to 1.6 million tons.
During the same period, steel exports rose by 26.1% year on year to about 700,000 tons, while imports grew by 37.2% from the corresponding period a year ago to 446,000 tons.
