According to the Argentine Steel Chamber, (CAA), the production of crude steel in the country totaled 323,600 tons in February this year, represents a 20.6% drop with respect to the previous month and a 9.7% drop on year-on-year basis. Likewise, the total production during the first two months of this year registered a 18.2% drop with the previous year.
According to CAA, the fall in production is a consequence of the economic recession, in addition, the 6 days of strikes made by the Metallurgical Workers' Union (UOM) also affects the production.
CAA indicated that there is no sign of the recovery of the demand for steel in all sectors that consume steel, except the energy sector.
