China's electricity consumption in October reached 5.79 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), up 5.0% on year, the National Energy Administration (NEA) announced on November 18th.
The electricity consumption in primary industries rose 9.1% to 6.6 billion kWh in October; industrial use of electricity was 400.8 billion kWh, up 3.4%, while the tertiary industry consumed 94.7 billion kWh of power, up 14.5%. Household electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 76.9 billion kWh, an increase of 2.7% on year.
From January to October, electricity consumption of China totaled 5923.2 billion kWh, up 4.4% on year. Among them, electricity consumption in primary industries rose 5.2% to 64.7 billion kWh; industrial use of electricity was 3986.7 billion kWh, up 3.0%, while the tertiary industry consumed 994.1 billion kWh of power, up 9.3%. Household power consumption of urban and rural residents was 877.7 billion kWh, an increase of 5.9% on year.
