According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 2.5 million tons of billet and bloom in 2022, dropping by 11% compared to the previous year. The value of these imports was down by 5.6% to nearly US$1.7 billion.
Among them, imports from Russia accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 1.5 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 4.4%), followed by Oman’s 248,000 tons.
In December alone, Turkey's billet and bloom imports amounted to approximately 266,500 tons, down by 2% month on month and up by 23% year on year. These imports were worth around US$154 million, a month-on-month decrease of 1.8% and a year-on-year increase of 3%.
