According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June, Turkey’s billet imports amounted to about 257,000 tons, falling by 18% month on month and decreasing by 15% year on year.
Among them, the imports from Russia totaled about 179,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22%. In addition, Malaysia and Algeria exported billet to Turkey with around 28,000 tons and 17,000 tons, respectively.
In the first six months, Turkey imported billet with around 1.9 million tons, increasing by 71% year on year. In the same period, Turkey’s billet imports from Russia amounted to around 909,000 tons.
