According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 125,000 tons of slab in October this year, significantly falling by 69% compared to the previous month and by 38% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Mexico accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 46,300 tons, a month-on-month drop of 42.7% and a year-on-year increase of 9.5%. Brazil was also one of the import sources with around 40,000 tons.
During the period, the import value totaled approximately US$72 million, plummeting by 72% month on month and by 47.9% year on year.
