According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported around 1.1 million tons of pig iron in the first ten months of this year, falling by 5.6% compared to the year-ago level. The import value was roughly US$514 million, a year-on-year decrease of 29%.
Among them, imports from Russia ranked first, with a supply of roughly 779,000 tons, a slight year-on-year increase of 0.3%; followed by Ukraine’s 109,000 tons and India’s 74,400 tons.
In October alone, Turkey’s pig iron imports increased by 9.7% month on month and surged by 151% year on year to around 132,000 tons. The value of these imports reached roughly US$55.5 million, a month-on-month growth of 7.6% and a year-on-year increase of 98%.
