According to statistics, Japan’s ferrous scrap exports totaled nearly 7 million tons in 2023, up by 10% compared to the previous year.
Among them, exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 2.63 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16%. Vietnam and Taiwan ranked second and third with around 1.68 million tons and 980,000 tons, rising by 28% and 56% year on year, respectively.
In December 2023, Japan exported around 609,000 tons of ferrous scrap, growing by 36.3% year on year.
